Originated from Japan in the 17th century, The Three Wise Monkeys, are also known as the Three Mystic Apes symbolizing the growth of mankind through wisdom in speech, action and vision of mind.

The three monkeys are Mizaru, covering his eyes, who sees no evil; Kikazaru, covering his ears, who hears no evil; and Iwazaru, covering his mouth, who speaks no evil.

The Maxim – "See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil" – was largely adopted as a message of peace and tolerance encouraged by Mahatma Gandhi in India and the rest of the world.
